ZLC Catholic Room Scheduler -- Installing For Access 2000, XP, 2003.
The ZLC CD default installation uses ACCESS 97 – it automatically installs whatever a PC needs to run that system. However, the new Microsoft ACCESS 2000 and XP versions are not compatible with the ACCESS 97 installation, so if your PC already has either ACCESS 2000 or ACCESS XP installed, then you should follow this alternative installation procedure.
You can tell if you have those Versions of ACCESS by going to START–PROGRAMS and looking for “Microsoft Access” on the list. If it is there, and if it has a Purple key symbol with a box around it, then that PC does have it (a yellow key indicates ACCESS 97).
In many ways, if your PC has ACCESS 2000/XP then the installation is much simpler. For example, you only need to copy two files onto your PC (the program file, plus the corresponding ZLC data file). There is no "installation" process that changes your Windows configuration, so there is no change in how your Windows works. These two files are on our CD in a folder called ACCESS 2000. Here is how to copy them onto your PC:
1. Determine if the PC has ACCESS 2000/XP installed.
2. Insert the ZLC CD. If the automatic installation starts, cancel / exit it.
3. Start up Windows Explorer (or My Computer)
4. Create a new folder on Drive C: named ZMS
a. highlight the Drive C: picture
b. use FILE–NEW–FOLDER on the pull-down menus
5. Locate your CD drive letter in the Exploring window, and double-click on it to show its folders
6. Double-click on the “ACCESS 2000" folder. You will see the contents of that folder.
7. Use the list below to determine the program filename you need to copy from the CD:
For the ZLC CATHOLIC ROOM SCHEDULER / EVENT PLANNER, use the file CC0020x.MDB
For the DELUXE ZLC CATHOLIC ROOM SCHEDULER / EVENT PLANNER, use the file CC0026x.MDB
8. Right-click on the program filename to be copied, and left-click on COPY (you will see nothing happen).
9. Double-click on the Drive C: again, and locate the ZMS folder. Right-click on that folder, and left-click on PASTE (if you do not have PASTE on the pop-up Menu, then you must repeat steps 4-9 again, carefully).
10. Double-click on the ZMS folder. You should now see the file you just copied into it. Now right-click on that filename (on Drive C) and choose PROPERTIES. Note that at the bottom left the READ-ONLY box is checked. Remove the check, then close the Properties Window. Now right-click on that same filename (on Drive C) again and choose COPY.
11. Now minimize the Exploring Window – and any other Windows you have open – so the Desktop (main screen) of the PC is showing. Go to an empty part of the Desktop, right-click, and choose PASTE (or PASTE SHORTCUT) – this will create an icon for starting the program.12. Now you need to copy the ZLC sample data file from the CD, into the C:\ZMS folder. You do this just like the program file above, but this time the filename is:

For the DELUXE ZLC CATHOLIC ROOM SCHEDULER / EVENT PLANNER, use the file CCXMPL26.MDB
13. Right-click on the filename to be copied, and left-click on COPY (you will see nothing happen).
14. Double-click on the Drive C: again, and locate the ZMS folder. Right-click on that folder, and left-click on PASTE (if you do not have PASTE on the pop-up Menu, then you must repeat steps 4-9 again, carefully).
15. Double-click on the ZMS folder. You should now see the file you just copied into it. Now right-click on that filename (on Drive C) and choose PROPERTIES. Remove the check from the READ-ONLY box, then close the Properties Window.
Now you have completed the installation and should be able to start up the ZLC program using the icon placed on your Desktop. It may say the registration has expired, depending on the sample data file used, but the system will continue operating in DEMO mode – just click on OK each time the message appears.
If this is a new PC on a network that already has an established data file (through previous use by other stations), then you still need to connect the new station to that established data file. Do this by going into SETUP, then into the CHANGE DATA FILE button. Enter the filename and location of your own data file, and run REATTACH.
